What's trending now: rising search trends
What's trending now, checked twice: every search here has risen on Google for months, by a measured amount, and a source outside Google — Wikipedia, research papers, Bing, Hacker News, Bluesky — rose with it.

How a search gets on this list
Next Big tracks thousands of searches every night. One gets a page here only when all four hold:
1. It's rising on Google, by a measured amount
Its 5-year weekly index on Google Trends at least doubled over about two years and still sits near its peak. A Breakout figure, a rise from nothing, a one-week burst or a seasonal swing says "new", not how much, so it doesn't count.
2. Something outside Google rose with it
Wikipedia views, research papers, Bing searches, Hacker News, Bluesky or news coverage rose more than they did for every other search we track. Google changes how it counts now and then; a second source rules that out.
3. It means one thing
A search that could mean several things waits until we know which one it is.
4. It's worth building on
Rated as a real product, service or problem people spend on, not a celebrity, a news story or anything adult.
Figures are Google's 0–100 index, not search volumes. A page stays when its trend stops passing, and says so.
